Experimental investigations and finite element model of heat and moisture transfer in multilayer textile packages
New textile technologies based on lamination and thermoplastic film or volumetric textilearchitecture creation enable to achieve many desirable effects providing necessary ballisticprotection along with a considerable improvement in wearing comfort. In this studya prototype active ventilation system of a 3D textile layer was developed and investigated. The finite element, which represents the forced ventilation layer made of three-dimensionaltextile material, was created and may be used as a structural element within the overallstructural model of the textile package. The element equations are derived on the basisof an ideal gas state equation. Results of the textile layer characteristics measured andnumerical data are presented.Key words: textile multi-layers, ventilation, thermal transport, moisture transport, finiteelement modeling.
